Get Your Eggos Ready! ‘Stranger Things’ Is Officially Returning for Season 2

Stranger Things Season 2 will be produced by 21 Laps for Netflix. That’s something we batted around from the very beginning. They told Entertainment Weekly that numerous characters will return to Hawkins, IN to continue the story of Will, Dustin, Mike, Lucas and, maybe, Eleven, the mysterious girl with telekinetic abilities who may or may not have died at the end of season one. “I will say the opening scene [of the premiere] does not take place in Hawkins”, Matt Duffer explained. In an interview with IGN, the brothers said that, where the first season takes place over the course of just a week or so, new episodes will explore the repercussions of what happened to the people of Hawkins exposed to the unusual world of the Upside Down. One more episode will also be added, making this season with a total of nine episodes instead of eight. “I don’t think you’ll see it in Season 2”. But Season 2 is sure to be premiered in 2017. “We leave [Eleven’s fate] up in the air”, said Ross Duffer. The 56-second clip gave us even more than we expected.

Stylistically, the second season is reportedly influenced by James Cameron genre flicks of the ’80s and ’90s, ranging from “Aliens” (1986) to “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” (1991). “There’s a bigger mythology, and there’s a lot of dangling threads in the end”.

We’ve already written our love letter to Season One, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what happened next. Netflix boss Ted Sarandos told press at this summer’s TCA that they “always want to take some time to be thoughtful about the process”.

The first series was set in November 1983, so it appears like we’ll be joining the proceedings in Hawkins, Indiana a year on. We really don’t go in there much until they go in to find Will at the end.
