After much anticipation, Potter fans are finally getting new material with a play, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child“, which will premier in London on Saturday, July 30, and the film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them“, due in theaters in November.
The novel like the play will primarily be focused around Harry and his son Albus.
The two-part play that opened Monday to rapturous reviews at the Palace Theatre on London’s West End was originally scheduled to close next year on May 27.
On Monday, it was revealed by bookseller Barnes and Noble that the play had become the most popular pre-ordered book in the USA for almost a decade. It will hit shelves at midnight Sunday, July 31. After midnight the book will be sold at its regular price of $29.99.
The party continues at 9 a.m. on Sunday, where people can gather to discuss the new book and participate in more activities.
The book party will feature free snacks and activities for all ages.
The book can be purchased on Amazon for $14.99 for Kindle and $17.99 for hardcover.
A special sale on discount books will also be underway, to help bibliophiles pass the time until the witching hour. The store is also accepting pre-orders.
Harry Potter Birthday Bash: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Indianapolis Public Library Glendale Branch, 6101 N. Keystone Ave. Book World will be serving different Harry Potter-themed snacks, as well as trivia to keep fans entertained.
“I’m really not sure how many people we’re expecting”, said Alyssa Abel, the manager of the store.
One challenge for the smaller bookshops is that they had to decide two months ago whether to pre-order the book. Tickets are priced from £15 per part and for every performance there will be 300 tickets at £20 or less per part.
Harry Potter’s magic is back.

“We’ll be doing coloring and we’ve got some stickers and temporary tattoos and word searches”, said book seller Allie Schwartz. She’s planning a costumed birthday party for later this fall, and everyone has to come as a Harry Potter character.
