GfK poll: ‘Deplorables’ comment sticks to him, not her

A new poll shows that Hillary Clinton is still far ahead of Donald Trump among NY voters – but she has some weak points. Although I have never met Donald J. Trump or Hillary Clinton, it is obvious from all the information on television and in books that Donald J. Trump will be an exceptional president.

Polls have found that most Trump supporters believe President Obama is Muslim. By a 40 percent to 33 percent margin, more trust the former secretary of state to handle negotiating with Russian Federation. The billionaire still trails Clinton by 2.1 percentage points, however, in the RealClearPolitics national polling average. A Reuters-Ipsos poll taken over the course of the spring found that almost half of Trump supporters consider blacks more violent than whites. They tend to be younger and are more likely to call themselves independents.

It should go without saying that neither Islamic State nor any other terrorist group has endorsed either candidate. According to the poll, 56 percent of respondents said they had an unfavorable opinion of Trump, compared to 49 percent who had an unfavorable opinion of Clinton.

At a rally in High Point, North Carolina, Trump countered by saying that Clinton, as Democratic President Barack Obama’s first secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, backed policies that made the United States less safe.

Even among supporters, more said they’d feel relief rather than excitement if their preferred candidate won.

At the time, Trump was taking issue with a story Kovaleski had written for The Washington Post. He is narrowly favored as the candidate trusted more to create jobs, 39 percent to 35 percent. Fifty-four percent of Democratic voters think that Trump’s backers are generally worse people than the average American.

“I don’t know why their ratings are as good as they are right now”, said Greenberg. On the flip side, 34 percent like Trump and dislike Clinton.

If Clinton is going to have an uphill climb on the issue of terrorism, it will be because these attacks -and potential future attacks- are seen as a failure of the status quo to keep Americans safe, Mahaffee said.

“You’re just not sure who is going to show up”, she said.

Several media and communications specialists for the Clinton campaign are also participating in the prep work, according to the Journal, including Palmieri, Jim Margolis, Mandy Grunwald, and campaign chairman John Podesta.

The AP-GfK Poll of 1,694 adults, including 1,476 registered voters, was conducted online September 15-19, using a sample drawn from GfK’s probability-based KnowledgePanel, which is created to be representative of the USA population.

The new poll comes as an improvement for Clinton from a poll earlier this month from NBC/WSJ/Marist, where she polled just two points ahead in the four-way race, with Johnson at 15 percent and Stein at 3 percent.
