GfK Poll: Many dislike Clinton _ but more disdain Trump

The Associated Press-GFK poll found that the negative view many take of Donald Trump runs across race, gender, political persuasion and location.

The Associated Press-GfK poll finds that two out of three people now have an unfavorable view of the party.

In contrast, 90% of Virginia Democrats polled said they would support Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in the general election, even if they are now Bernie Sanders supporters. The poll saw a consistent disdain for Trump across all demographics: young and old; conservatives, moderates and liberals; and whites, Hispanics and blacks. They are bound to give Trump the delegates he won in the MI primary on the first ballot, but that’s their only obligation.

The most recent general election matchup polls suggest a Trump nomination would be a disaster for the Republican Party.

Ari Fleisher, who was a former advisor for President George W. Bush, stated, Trump was at risk for failing to obtain the nomination at the Republican National Convention in July.

Andrew Glaves, a “hard core” Republican from Bothell, Washington, said he might have to side with Clinton if Trump becomes the nominee, even though she’s out of step with his views on gun rights, his top election issue.

Almost half of all registered voters say they would at least consider voting for Clinton, far more than who say they are open to voting for Trump. Just 30 percent of Americans now have a favorable view of the GOP, the poll found.

One group that is still with him includes those who describe themselves as both Republicans and supporters of the tea party movement.

The AP-Gfk poll surveyed 1,076 adults via phone and online from March 3 to April 4. There is a plus or minus 3.3 percentage sampling error margin as reported by AP.
