Scores of passengers traveling from the Northern part of the country to the Southern part are fleeing the Metro Mass Transport buses in Tamale.

A bus hit a cargo truck north of Ghana’s second city Kumasi overnight, killing 71 people in the West African country’s deadliest road crash for years, authorities said on Thursday.
“It was very serious”. “The death toll so far has reached 53, 23 people survived”, regional police spokesman Christopher Tawiah told AFP.
Following the crash, which took place on Wednesday night, the government-operated bus was reduced to a twisted tangle of metal, with the road covered in crushed red tomatoes.
The accident happened around 8pm a few metres away from the Kintampo township on the way to Tamale and near the waterfalls, reported The Graphic.
Police believe a mechanical failure on the bus led to the accident, but have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause.
President John Mahama offered his condolences to “those who’ve lost loved ones” via Twitter.
Passengers travelling to these communities told Starr News they had no option but to join the buses to those areas.

“The collision was so intense, you could see the truck nearly inside the bus”.
