Ghostbusters Has Been Denied A Release In China
“She brings great energy, great truth – (and) she has a quality of being very amusing and real”, the legendary filmmaker says. She is one of the many reasons you should go and see this movie.

Ghostbusters, directed by Paul Feig and starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, opening on July 15th in the United States, is expected to face a hard opening weekend, with a projected $50 million take off a $144 million budget. But there’s some babies that you just have to lose. All these films were given a 15 certification by the BBFC and they used that certificate to its full potential. Instead there is a clumsy coming-together of old pals Erin and Abby (Wiig and McCarthy), the introduction of nerdy science genius Jillian (McKinnon) and a welcoming for blue-collar enthusiast Patty (Jones).
Melissa McCarthy stars as Abby, the leader of the group who has spent her life studying ghosts. Abby has chose to finally publish their joint effort online, as a way to fund her paranormal research. Abbie has continued that research at a much less prestigious college. Abby, Erin, and Erin’s new assistant, Dr. Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon), are determined to find a way to save NY. “Ain’t no bitches gonna hunt no ghosts”, lets you know right away that if you don’t like the movie, you must be part of some vast supernatural conspiracy opposing women’s rights. Helped by the contraptions of engineer Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) and the NY trivia knowledge of Patty (Leslie Jones), the team takes on a ghost invasion.
The last main member of the team is Thor star Chris Hemsworth.
The story is similar but not the same as the original.
There are cameo appearances from the earlier ‘buster movies, with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Ozzy Osbourne. But actually, these are their own unique characters inhabiting those niches.
Believe it or not, it’s been 30 years since the original Ghostbusters burst onto the big screen, and this weekend, a new rebooted version makes its debut. Julia Roberts was one of the first.
Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. This time, those outsiders are people are women, again trying to break through, an on-going theme in the film world particularly recently. Strangely, that choice gives the film a contemporary girl-power edge, and a little rebellious undercurrent.

During a recent interview with The Daily Beast’s Jen Yamato, director/co-writer Paul Feig was asked point blank whether Holtzmann is gay.
