‘Ghostbusters’ reboot has plenty of spirit

Feig, known for films like “Bridesmaids” and “Spy”, noted that he has tried to interweave action with an element of fun in “Ghostbusters” as well.

No, I am not going to say who (or what), but you don’t have to go too far down the Google rabbit hole to find out. But, clearly, so do the makers of this “Ghostbusters”; note the frequent, affectionate references to the earlier film, and watch for amusing cameos from almost every member of the first movie’s principal cast.

There are Internet doubters, even haters, who don’t think the new Ghostbusters can roll with an all-female cast – even with four of the funniest women in comedy battling the specters.

Producer Amy Pascal (yes, the former Sony CEO who quit over the 2014 email hack) has promised The Hollywood Reporter a ton of sequels and spin-offs because “people are going to love this movie so much that they’re going to demand more”.

After months of online posturing over the parts originally brought to life by four amusing men in the 1984 classic Ghostbusters – Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson – moviegoers will have the chance to decide for themselves about the new chapter.

She’d cut her teeth writing for MADtv and “Parks and Recreation” before making a big screen splash with the original comedy “The Heat”, which Feig directed with Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock starring.

“…the same person I want to slime!” laughed McCarthy.

Critics are mostly viewing this new take on Ghostbusters favorably, but the descending voices are all pointing to a weak story as the movie’s key flaw, and look, I have to agree that the story is only loosely strung together. They haven’t teamed up for a project since Bridesmaids, and it’s great to see them collaborating again. “I knew that it would really be tough to pull off because the original so magical”.

There may be a lot to talk about on the “Ghostbusters” reboot, and it will always be compared with the original film.

“People love it! And I’ve met so many people that are so excited about it”, she said. “And I think ‘Ghostbusters, ‘ in a very loving and comedic way, deals with that”. (Dippold herself does, too, as a real-estate agent.) Among them is the elusive Murray, whose presence in the film (I won’t spoil it by describing the role) was, according to Dippold, a nail-biter. Hemsworth is a real hottie and is great as the worst receptionist you have ever witnessed. When you first see what I’m talking about you’ll groan.
