Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly announced that the team’s franchise player Giancarlo Stanton is probably lost for the season. The club has placed him and teammate Adam Conley (sore hand) on the 15-day disabled list, Frisaro reports. The 61-56 squad is now tied with the Cardinals for the final National League wild-card spot.

Rodon (3-8) had been winless in his previous nine starts following a win against Kansas City on May 22. That was the end of the rope for Sale, who departed at 110 pitches (75 strikes) in 6.2 innings, five earned runs on eight hits, with seven strikeouts and one walk.

“We’ve seen unusual stuff happen on our end, definitely”, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. Mike Dunn (3-1) pitched a ideal seventh. He’s 0-4 in his past six starts and hasn’t won since his suspension for cutting up the team’s throwback jerseys July 23.
As part of the Stanton and Conley roster moves, the Marlinscalled up infielder Robert Andino, recalled left-hander Hunter Cervenka and released Cody Hall. The Marlins have over achieved expectations all season long and acquired guys like Andrew Cashner and Fernando Rodney to help make a playoff push.
