Giancarlo Stanton wins All-Star Home Run Derby

Giancarlo Staton proved with absolute certainty that he is the strongest slugger in Major League Baseball after hitting a Home Run Derby record 61 total home runs during the contest on Monday.

Stanton’s first round was one of the best in Derby history, finishing with 24 home runs on 30 swings.

“You see this bad boy right here? This is what I came for and I’m taking it with me”. They could use an extra day of rest to recover from the Home Run Derby. The Marlins recently hired Home Run King Barry Bonds as their hitting coach and it was a genius move.

Electing to take his timeout at that point of the quarterfinal round, Stanton then added another 10 homers to wow the crowd in San Diego.

Home, more or less: Myers and Drew Pomeranz of the Padres will be in their comfort zone for tonight’s game. “It’s just if my bat, my swing is going to fall apart a little bit”. I thought I had a chance when I needed 20, but he deserved it. He put on a great show.

Last year, in the first season of the timed format, no hitter topped 15 homers in the first round. The team was prepared to offer a discount of one percent off a ticket price for each home run hit by Stanton.

Trumbo, who leads the majors with 28 homers, had two of the most impressive shots of the night, off the scoreboard in left field and onto the top of the Western Metal Building in his semifinal matchup against Stanton.

Ex-Mariner Mark Trumbo of the Orioles beat Corey Seager, younger brother of Mariners 3B Kyle Seager, in the first round but lost in the second round to Stanton. “But most the time I stuck at 80-90 percent”. But it wasn’t enough as Adam Duvall (23), who rose from platoon player to All-Star this season, managed to knock him out. Giants catcher Buster Posey is fifth, followed by Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, Marlins center fielder Marcell Ozuna, Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez and Cubs shortstop Addison Russell. Frazier lost in the final round to Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins, 20-13.

Stanton obliterated the previous Home Run Derby record set by Bobby Abreu of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2005. He rewarded his father’s efforts with a big hug.
