Giannis Antetokounmpo’s triple-double lifts Bucks over Nets

“We just tried to do a better job going out on the pick and roll and running their 3-point shooters off the line”, said Khris Middleton, who with 19 points was one of six Bucks in double figures. The young Bucks will look to continue their win streak as they travel to Brooklyn play the underachieving Nets on Sunday, March 13. Their plane wasn’t able to take off Saturday night after their victory over New Orleans in Milwaukee, so they remained there overnight…. Sean Kilpatrick added 19 as Brooklyn (18-48) lost its fourth straight by committing 21 turnovers and giving up 66 points in the paint. His final line of six points and four rebounds won’t blow anyone away, but he played the good defense that the Bucks needed and that wasn’t being provided by Greg Monroe.

“I was not afraid to take the shots”, Kilpatrick, who hit a couple of long three-pointers, said. The Bucks’ 6-11 point forward, who was given a shot to run the offense last month because of injuries at guard, recorded is fourth triple-double in 11 games.

Milwaukee used a 14-2 run midway through the fourth to build a 15-point margin. Let’s not forget how the bench (excluding Sean Kilpatrick) shot 1-for-12 and combined for only five points in Friday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

On the other side, the over is a highly profitable 10-1 in the Nets’ last 11 home games versus a team with a losing road record and has cashed in nine of their last 10 home games.

To put it lightly, Milwaukee’s challenged in a lot of areas.

The Bucks are on the road Sunday night taking on the Brooklyn Nets, and this is where we got to see that Giannis has some of the best ball handling skills in the world. Instead of flying out after Saturday’s win over New Orleans, the Bucks spent Saturday night in Milwaukee and flew out Sunday morning…. The Bucks’ prized SG is having a terrific season with averages of 18.5 points, 1.9 triples, 4.2 assists and 1.6 steals, all of which are career highs.

A sweep of the Nets would be of small consolation for the coach in what has been a miserable season for both sides.

Less than two years ago, Kidd coached the Nets into the second round of the playoffs. Brooklyn wore “Los Nets” jerseys as part of the NBA’s Latin Nights series.

The only player remaining from that 2013-14 team is Lopez, and he missed most the season with a broken bone in his foot. Since then, Paul Pierce wasn’t re-signed, the Nets traded Kevin Garnett and bought out Deron Williams and Joe Johnson.

“That happens in sports”. “You look at Golden State, you look at San Antonio, you look at Oklahoma City, those are the teams that are atop the National Basketball Association and those are the teams that tend to win, so for Brooklyn or Milwaukee, we’re all trying to strive to be consistent”.

Andrea Bargnani of the Brooklyn Nets
