This was in response to the CDC’s announcement that four more cases of E. coli have developed as a result of flour.

Giant announced Wednesday that because of a recall by General Mills Inc., the grocer is removing Gold Medal All Purpose Flour. Individuals living in Wisconsin and Minnesota are involved in the new cases.

Symptoms can include stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting and fever that can last five to seven days. General Mills however was not the only company targeted for contamination.

The recall is for Gold Medal All Purpose Flour, 5 pounds, UPC 1600010610, with better-if-used-by dates of June 18, 2017, Aug. 1, 2017, and Aug. 13, 2017, through Aug. 21, 2017.

“The expansion announced today includes select production dates through February 10, 2016”, according to the company.

Again, it’s been confirmed that some of the recalled products are in Alaska.

General Mills is still unsure if it is “experiencing a higher prevalence of E.coli in flour than normal, if this is an issue isolated to General Mills’ flour, or if this is an issue across the flour industry”. This is the third time that the recall, first announced in May, has been expanded. It also cautions consumers to discard of any uncooked batter made with their flour.
