Giants’ Beckham suspended one game
“Panthers spokesman Steven Drummond denied Monday that any member of the team used the bat to threaten Beckham”. A person close to Odell Beckham Jr. said he felt threatened by the Panthers bringing bats out in warm-up and were pointing it at him. It’s become an issue.

“I heard nothing. People around him [Ball] heard nothing that could be construed as homophobic”, Rivera said, per Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer.
“That’s the truth of the matter”, Rivera said. And what I have seen in the last couple of games – the wagging of the tongue, the nonsense in the end zone, the me me me stuff – to me, it all boiled over yesterday in one of the worst, worst performances and completely me, self-aggrandizing, nonsensical, just risky at times performance by Beckham yesterday. “It’s the No Fun League for a reason”, Rivera said. The Panthers are not likely to face punishment for their bats, per USA Today.
With Beckham’s appeal set for Wednesday, Rivera wondered aloud if this controversy is an attempt at spinning the situation to the Giants’ advantage. Ball has the bat at his side; the two jaw for a couple of seconds; punter Brad Wing steps in between them and Beckham walks away.
Though the Panthers play football, it is apparently a Panthers tradition to carry a black baseball bat onto the field.
He noted that the team’s defensive backs gathered in a huddle around the bat – and all touched it for good luck – before Carolina’s 38-0 win against Atlanta on December 13.
Not ushering Odell Beckham Jr. off the field for continually attacking Carolina cornerback Josh Norman wasn’t the only questionable call in the NFL’s wacky Week 15.
In an NFL where the effects of head trauma are debated daily and the league has declared player safety is a top priority, Beckham’s charge at Norman seemed especially violent. It has been contended that homophobic comments were made toward Beckham. He would be reinstated next Monday. “You go back and watch the film tomorrow and you learn from it”. “You can’t let somebody else take you off your game”.
“We want to establish our toughness in between the whistles”, Quinn said. “It’s part of the game”. You know, he would have been acting a different way. “You going to get out here, and you’re going to dance around and prance around like you’re a ballerina, that goes to show you”. But the one-game suspension doled out to the star wide receiver may help investors in a midsize Midwestern bank in the process. “It’s an opportunity for us to clinch home field throughout and hopefully we’ll be able to do that”.
“For the coaches, the preparation will be a little quicker”, Rivera said. “I don’t think anybody should be talking about what happened after they lost a game”.
