Giants coach Ben McAdoo not overreacting to O-Line woes
Starting left guard Justin Pugh (bruised shoulder) and first-round pick CB Eli Apple (leg muscle strain) traveled but sat out. Center Weston Richburg, right guard John Jerry and right tackle Marshall Newhouse have not impressed. “We’re going to put him back out there and let him work back into it”.

At this point, if the Giants are able to extract anything from him this season it will be icing on the cake. The MRI on wide receiver/special teams ace Dwayne Harris’ injured knee came back clean, McAdoo said.
Cruz’s groin injury is “no longer an annoyance”, the New York Post reports. Cruz, trying to return from a torn patella tendon and a calf injury the past two seasons, has missed the first two preseason games with a groin injury. “We had 10 penalties in the ball game, put us behind the chains on offense and gave them some first downs defensively”. Originally, Cruz downplayed the injury, but it did cost him the entire week of practice leading up to the Buffalo Bills game.
And one of the many objectives for McAdoo is a better commitment to the fundamentals and physicality that go hand-in-hand. “There are some signs in practice.it’s gotta show up on game day”. “A lot of the things, and a lot of the mistakes that we’re making, we’re not making in practice, we just need to have the confidence to carry those over to game day”.
Wide receiver Victor Cruz is set to make another try at getting back on the practice field after hurting his groin nearly two weeks ago.

If that happens, provided he continues to stay healthy and progress on the field, Cruz’s comeback would line up against – of all teams – the Jets in their annual preseason showdown Saturday night at MetLife Stadium. Now, the Giants won’t hold a full practice on Monday. “Again, we need to see more consistency from him, but he is a guy that stepped up, jumped in when his number was called and he did improve”. Free agent Tom Obarski missed a short field attempt on Saturday in what was considered his golden opportunity to show the team he could do the job with Josh Brown suspended for the season opener.
