Giants owner John Mara said Thursday in a radio interview that the team knew about the abuse but chose to keep Brown on the roster.

The NFL has re-opened its investigation of Brown, who admitted that he verbally and physically abused his former wife. Despite the public outcry for Brown to be released, the Giants are not turning their back on him entirely. Accordingly, King County never handed over the information despite additional requests from Agnew.

Brown was arrested previous year for a domestic violence incident with his ex-wife, and documents released this week by a Washington sheriff’s office from its subsequent investigation illuminate a lengthy pattern of alleged abuse in the relationship.

Urquhart said that National Football League investigators who did state as much failed because they did not go through proper procedure to get information, and would have had more success if they had.

King County Sheriff’s department had a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why the leagues alleged “Investigators” didn’t get access to the paperwork.

One document was titled, “Josh Brown – Contract for Change”. McAdoo said he went to each position room Thursday to inform players that Brown would not make the trip to London.

“My conversations 1-on-1 with Josh, I’m going to leave those personal”, McAdoo said. The Giants do not condone or excuse any form of domestic violence.

The NFL probably wishes it had gotten that advice before handing down Brown’s one-game suspension.

League officials are adamant that at the time of their initial ruling they had what they deemed to be “credible evidence” of a domestic incident, only that an incident occurred between Brown and his now ex-wife, Molly Brown, when he grabbed a phone out of her hands. Asked whether Brown can expect further punishment, Goodell told BBC Sport, “The policy the way it’s structured right now is for an incident”. We are getting more information’.

“We take this issue incredibly seriously”.

“But when it happens we’re not going to tolerate it”.

“We take this issue incredibly seriously”, he said in an interview with BBC Sport. “The black guy gets two games, the white guy gets one game”.

Mara said, “Certainly, he admitted to us that he abused his wife”. Instead the Giants signed free agent and ex-Chicago Bear kicker Robbie Gould, to play in his stead. He will practice with the team Saturday. “(I want to) make sure he is able to overcome these things. “He’s been successful, and we’re hoping that continues”, McAdoo said.
