Giants expecting receiver Victor Cruz to return in Week 4 vs. Bills

It’s likely that Cruz’s return will diminish target numbers for both of those players. He was on schedule recovering from that injury when he tweaked his calf and was forced to miss the first three games.

Cruz said that few of his teammates and coach jokingly re-introduced themselves to him on Monday “as if I’m a new guy on the team”.

Cruz admits the prospect of playing again is exciting. I want to be clicking on all cylinders. But with the heartfelt declaration – “I believe I’m playing Sunday” – Cruz can end the frustration, and the ribbing, finally ready to retake the field after the devastating one-two punch of knee surgery followed by a calf injury.

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz said he will make his 2015 National Football League debut this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

“I didn’t feel anything today”. “I was kind of like, ‘Man, I’m driving in and I’m actually going to be putting a helmet on, ‘” he said.

Coach Tom Coughlin said Cruz has to get through practice healthy before he gets back in the lineup. “It’s a positive for morale for the team”. In a game where the Giants need all hands on deck it is good to get Cruz back. The Giants could very well have been 3-0 at this point and an added option in their receiving corp could bring their offense to the next level.

John Minchillo/AP Victor Cruz signs autographs after the Giants’ joint NFL football training camp this summer. So this is an emotional time for Cruz, as he contemplates his return, lining up with fellow receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle, and once again catching passes from Eli Manning. Without Cruz, the Giants somehow managed to have the NFL’s 16th-ranked offense and 14th-ranked passing attack.

New York Giants fans will finally get to see two of their best receivers in this week’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

Coughlin even conceded that offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo’s play-calling was somewhat restricted with Cruz out.

“He was moving around, we’ll see”, Coughlin said.

That’s if Cruz plays, of course.

Cruz did not mention whether or not he will be attending the team’s practices on Monday. Cruz is now nursing a calf injury.

“I just want to go in there, be myself, catch everything, run after the catch, and just play well”, Cruz said, “and this is a stepping stone for the rest of the season”. I would like to shield them, but I can’t, it’s the world we live in.

The Giants are now in a good place to contend for a spot in the playoffs, according to CBSSports.com’s Jared Dubin.

“I don’t want to go out there and be 60 percent”, Cruz said. But no matter how he plays, his presence will be felt. “I feel good”, Cruz said. The Bills have the second worse pass defense in terms of yards per game, with only the Giants behind them.
