Giants in good mood after late win, game ball to Fells
The Giants didn’t need to run the way Manning was shredding the defense. Not in frustration, but in celebration. He passed for 441 yards and became the winningest quarterback in team history with 102.

“I figured if he didn’t start the drive, he wouldn’t be back in”, Manning said. They just keep pulling it tight.
But with the entire NFC East struggling for wins-the 3-2 Giants now lead the division, with all three rivals at 2-3-the Giants are suddenly not just in the thick of a playoff race, but leading it. One play later, Manning threw high to tight Larry Donnell over two San Francisco defenders, and Donnell made an wonderful catch to decide the game.
His San Francisco 49ers were in it until the very end this time on the heels of three lopsided losses.
“There was a resolve, a determination, but also you could see a joy”, Tomsula said Monday, a day after the team’s spirited 30-27 loss to the New York Giants.
There have been 27 of these fourth-quarter comebacks for Eli Manning in the regular season, and five more in the playoffs, so it’s not really anything new.
“Kap did a hell of a job with how he bounced back”, said receiver Torrey Smith, who had two catches for 42 yards.
“They had to start at the beginning with Colin Kaepernick”, Cosell explained.
“I told him that”, Boldin said. “That’s a real sign of a team“.
In each of their first two games this season, the New York Giants found ways to lose in the final minutes. However, as fate would have it, the call was overturned and the Giants drove down the field and scored a game-winning touchdown with 21 seconds left.
The touchdown was his last reception; he left with a hamstring injury, something that has plagued his short pro career, and returned only briefly on the winning series. Hyde would rush the remaining 29 yards on the drive as he got his only touchdown of the game but it appeared that the game might well be going the way of the 49ers from now on.

“Thank God we were able to give him the game ball”, Coughlin said.
Let’s take a closer look at a few of the important players and stats from this one so we can figure out why things played out the way they did.
The fourth quarter was pretty intense.
“When a quarterback smiles, you’ve got to smile, too … that’s our leader”. Mike Nugent tied it with a 31-yard field goal on the final play of regulation.
The Redskins had the first possession of OT, and Kirk Cousins moved the team to midfield. This happened despite the absence of wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. Josh Brown has already kicked 13 field goals.
“He was on”, said Carlos Hyde, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown after totaling 12 yards in the first half.
Fast forward to 2015 and the Broncos are sitting at 5-0, but that has nothing to do with their offence. Jarryd Hayne provided a boost with a 16-yard return in the third quarter. “This one says a lot about the guys we have, the resiliency we have”. But Denver’s defense made sure it didn’t matter, getting a third defensive touchdown of 2015. He did not throw an interception.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee. Cornerback Tramaine Brock also added an interception at the end of the first half, which prevented a Giants touchdown.

Blame him for the 49ers’ three-game losing streak they packed for the trip to New York. The team dedicated this game to teammate Daniel Fells, who is battling a staph infection and could have to have his foot amputated as the disease has spread.
