Giants know they can’t afford to look past Washington this week

The Carolina game is in the rearview mirror. Those clubs could have joined NY atop the division. In fact they will be duking it out for first place in the division when head to Redskins territory. Nicks had two 1,000-yard seasons with NY between 2009-13 before injuries derailed him previous year for Indianapolis. “I feel that they’ve out-physicaled us the last three times, number one, and that’s something that we have to make sure we’re ready for”. “We’ll deal with that in the offseason”, Gruden said…. “We’re just going to keep fighting”. “That’s what this game and what this league requires”.

“The feeling here hasn’t changed, it’s always about what we do”, Wing said. “You try to take calculated risks”.

“I think he’s much more confident”, Coughlin said.

And so is a defense that hasn’t really had much luck stopping any opponent for a full 60 minutes since Week 1.

But for Cousins and Co., neither the Cowboys game, nor any other game on the rest of the schedule, hasn’t come to mind. We’re studying them. They’ve got a lot of film on us.

“We know what kind of a team we have here”, Pierre-Paul said. “It’s a division game, and that’s all that matters”.

Their season – and the jobs of a lot of people – depend on that being the case.

“I could (not) care less”, Jackson said Wednesday during a conference call with New York-area reporters in advance of the Giants’ game at the Redskins on Sunday. The 44-16 rout included five Washington turnovers, as quarterback Kirk Cousins led that category with two lost fumbles and an interception.

If the trend continues, he could have another big day against a team he hasn’t fared so well against in the past.

Check. But, they also have their quarterback back, and when he’s playing, the Cowboys are 3-0 this year. So we can’t let them get that rolling, and it just opens up their whole offense when they can run the ball well. A one-point win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers raised hopes that were dashed by a blowout loss to the New England Patriots one week later. The Giants have been bad for a while but this season they are a decent team.

The Redskins have a 65-98-4 all-time record against the Giants, having lost each of the last five contests.

The Redskins can post their first five-game, single-season win home streak since 1991 on Sunday when they face the Giants in a showdown for first place in the mediocre NFC East.

“We got leadership in the key rooms that have been there on this team, so I think we’re fine with that”, Jennings said. If you take away the absolute clunker against the Eagles, the Giants have given a great fight in every game.

The Redskins have a plus-one turnover margin at home; they’re minus-six on the road. Reed has become Cousins’ most reliable target, although diminutive rookie Jamison Crowder (Duke) has 43 receptions on his own. “If we do that, we expect to be right there”. What was a 14-14 game after a 99-yard touchdown return by Andre Roberts turned into a 31-14 deficit by halftime. The numbers get even more staggering if you go back to before 2010. “He caught some quick-game passes [against the Panthers] as well so we’re getting him the football”.
