New York Giants linebacker Jon Beason left Saturday night’s preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a sprained knee, according to the team.

St. Louis, MO, USA; New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning (10) throws against the St. Louis Rams during the first half at the Edward Jones Dome. In their first preseason game the offense was stagnant and the defense was lackluster to say the very least. His chances for scoring touchdowns were hurt by poor offensive line play at times, a holding penalty in the red zone and a drop.

Robinson, Gerhart, and potentially Pierce loom behind him, but Yeldon remains the unquestioned workhorse, which is a fact that won’t change even if he misses next week’s game; it would just mean that the other guys will steal more early-season carries than once expected. The Giants must put on a much better performance today to show that they are on track to hit the new season running in a few weeks time.

Beason sat on a trainer’s table on the sideline with an ice pack on the knee while the game continued. Here are the things we want to see in this exhibition game.
