Giants To Work Out Wes Welker, Hakeem Nicks, Chris Cooley
The New York Giants are reaching back into their recent National Football League past with their weekly Tuesday workouts, hosting former Giant receiver Hakeem Nicks and former Patriots and Broncos wideout Wes Welker.

A source told Anderson that the Giants were working out wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Wes Welker. The Giants continually update their files and need to see these players on the field. In his third season, he helped them win Super Bowl XLVI. Neither player has been able to find a team to latch onto in 2015. From 2007-2012, Welker was the game’s most consistent and prolific slot receiver. But after he left New England for Denver, Welker’s numbers began to dip. Last season, at 34 years old, Welker caught only 49 passes for 464 yards as he served a suspension for amphetamine use and dealt with issues related to concussions. In his career, he has made 349 receptions for 5,027 yards and 31 touchdowns. The 34-year-old Welker, however, has been adamant that he’s going to make every effort to continue his career, despite talk about retirement.

The Giants had little interest in re-signing Nicks as a free agent in 2014, and he spent previous year playing a complementary role with the Colts. And one of the wide receivers, Victor Cruz, has yet to return from the knee injury that ended his 2014 season early and a calf injury he suffered in August. Cruz will join Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle as Eli Manning’s primary targets.
