Giants win, force 3-way tie

It’s now a three-way tie in the NFC East between the Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles and the Giants. The result as of the third quarter was a gassed Dolphins defense, featuring a punchless front that could not agitate Manning in the pocket. Going into this contest, both teams were 5-7 with plenty of great players, inconsistency, and plenty of questions about the coaching staff. Though this game was fun to watch, and the Giants moving to 6-7, every NFC team that already clinch a playoff spot, or will secure a playoff spot better watch out for the G-Men after Manning and Beckham’s big game.

In Week 11 against the Patriots, the Giants lost because they forced 24 very ineffective rushing attempts while Manning was in a zone with Beckham and his other receivers.

With the scores level again, the Dolphins backed the Giants up in their own territory early in the fourth, but a mix-up in coverage allowed Beckham to get free and he reeled in a pass from Manning before running untouched 84 yards for the winning score.

“I’ve been here six years and nothing has gone the way that we wanted it to be”, Campbell said. The 100-yard game was his sixth in a row, a Giants record. Landry had 11 catches for 99 yards but was flagged for a costly personal foul penalty with his team trailing in the fourth quarter. I think, if you look at what we’ve been able to do…historically, I don’t know how far you want to go back, but we’ve made plays on the ball in the secondary and we’re not getting those right now. Taylor handed coverage off to safety Reshad Jones, who jumped Beckham’s inside cut.

In celebration of the franchise’s 50th season, the Dolphins introduced their 50 greatest players at halftime.

The Dolphins faced a quality opponent in the New York Giants and they put together a quality win. The superstars led the way, but the surprisingly strong play of the offensive line gives the Giants confidence as they make a run at the playoffs.

Like it or not, the Vikings will have to play another regular season prime time game in 2015. He had 12 touchdowns all of last season and with three games to go, he’s likely not done yet in 2015. The latter pass was initially ruled incomplete because Beckham was out of bounds, but the decision was overturned by a replay review that made the score 24-all.

“Obviously his performance is something we all expect”, Landry said.

He also missed Miami’s go-ahead touchdown, when Prince Amukamara badly misplayed a deep pass for Kenny Stills that turned into a 47-yard completion to give the Dolphins a 24-17 lead on their first drive of the half. The receiver on the 5-yard pass for the tie: Will Tye.

Defensive coordinator did what he could to get pressure on Dolphins’ signal caller Ryan Tannehill.

“Our guys have hung in there”, Coughlin said.

The team also didn’t seem to want to stick with the run-which seemed to be working most of the time. Head coach Tom Coughlin did not have much of an update on the lineman’s status Tuesday, but did express optimism Flowers did not do any additional damage to the ankle, while adding the injury is likely not going away, as the Giants wish it would. “It snapped my neck.”…

NOTES: Coughlin said he has some concern about kicker Josh Brown, whose third-quarter miss from 49 yards marked his second in two games after hitting 19 straight from the start of the season.
