Gibbs rescues point for Arsenal in 1-1 derby draw vs Spurs

The Gunners – missing the likes of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Hector Bellerin, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck to injury – eventually levelled when Gibbs bundled in a first league goal since March 2012 on 77 minutes to set up a grandstande finale.

Spurs are starting to turn the screw on Arsenal’s dominance in north London as they have drawn 1-1 on both trips to the Emirates under Pochettino since he took charge and beat Wenger’s side at White Hart Lane last season. When you consider the manner in which they lost in Munich, if Arsenal were to lose you could say Arsene Wenger would come under pressure again. I’m still trying to fight it. I’m always afraid of being late.

“I want to stay in the Champions League and will do absolutely everything to stay in it”, Wenger said.

Despite the frustration of not taking maximum points, Arsenal remain in sold Premier League form.

Arsenal have been in good form in the league and many feel they are one of the favourites to win the Premier League title, but Wenger feels it’s too early to make such predictions.

“It just shows you that the championship will be extremely hard for everybody”.

I think the modern world is too much about individuals and we as managers are more anxious about the collective.

Wenger hopes Cazorla will show no ill effects from his dizzy spell.

“And knowing him well after a few months i am not surprised”.

When you go back to 4-1, maybe you go back to 4-2 and you never know.

“I can speak about today, not about the Tottenham you have seen before, but I am very happy with the way we have developed our philosophy and our way”, Pochettino said.

Spurs, who are fifth in the table, haven’t won at the Emirates for five years, and they were beaten by their great rivals in the third round of the Capital One Cup in September, a rare defeat in what’s been an impressive start to the season. “I had a little look and I wasn’t offside”.

Cech has made a total of 344 appearances in the Premier League since moving to England in 2004.

He added: “He’s got enough aggression, great technique, he’s not frightened to get on the ball in big games – this is arguably the biggest game he’s played in – and all at 19”.
