Hilfiger chose to take that idea to its most literal conclusion, erecting a real-life carnival on a pier at Manhattan’s South Street Seaport to display his wares. Traditionally these shows have been a showcase for spring/summer collections.
“One of the things that we really had to organise was getting the right seat for Gigi’s friend Taylor Swift”, he said. She has fans all over the world and they want to wear what Gigi wears. “They want to have a piece of Gigi”. Replied Hilfiger, laughing: “No, I’m the godfather”.

Hadid opened the show in a sleek cotton jacket and black leather motorcycle trousers, with a printed scarf around her neck all from her collection. The whole party was scheduled to be open again to the public on Saturday for eight hours.
