Gionee to announce its first ‘Made in India’ phone today
Gionee showcased its first “Made in India” smartphone today in Vizag. Gionee’s new lifestyle F Series, F103 was launched as the first Made in India phone by Foxconn in SriCity. “We have already invested Rs 300 crores in local manufacturing and will invest more in future to boost R&D for local software”, said Arvind Vohra, Country CEO & MD, Gionee India.

Gionee F103 is high on style quotient and brings a smooth user experience. Under the hood is 1.3 GHz Quad Core processsor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is not expandable.
He also said that by that point they will be selling just “Made in India” phones in the region.
Naidu stated that Andhra Pradesh is turning into a hub for manufacture of mobile and electronics units. With the current interest levels, I am hopeful that Andhra Pradesh will be producing 6-7 million phones per month by the end of next year. CM shared that Andhra Pradesh has several strategic advantages like location, policies, business environment and skill base, which makes it as one of the most favorable state for Make in India vision.

“India being one of our biggest markets worldwide, we are committed to a long-term sustainable growth path. This move will strengthen our presence and help us step up momentum in India”, he added. The CEO, Vohra, apart from announcing the debut of the upcoming phone also said that the company is also interested in entering the wearable sector very soon. It was an honor to have Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh joining us on this momentous occasion. The launch comes less than a week after Gionee launched its Elife E8 smartphone in India. “We can be working in the direction of making India manufacturing a hub for not exclusively India, however different nations too”.
