Girl dies while playing on bouncy castle in Britain

An English girl has died after strong winds blew the jumping castle she was playing in more than 150 metres across a park.

The Daily Mail reports that the girl was taking part in Easter celebrations in Harlow Park.

Terri Rickards said she would not allow her children on the bouncy castle as it looked unsafe in the strong winds.

She was taken to hospital, but died of her injuries, according to the Harlow Star newspaper.

Essex Police confirmed officers arrested two people on suspicion of man slaughter by gross negligence following the incident.

Paramedics were called to Harlow Town Park in Essex shortly after 16:00 GMT, East of England Ambulance Service said.

It is thought the bouncy castle came loose from its “moorings” and was blown away, with the child inside.

Among the tributes at the park’s entrance is an Easter basket while another card on a bunch of flowers reads: “God has taken a lovely girl for his angel”.

It is the second such incident involving a bouncy castle in Harlow in the past year.

This is a very tragic incident where a young girl has lost her life.

“Police were contacted at 4.20pm today with reports of a girl severely injured in Harlow Town Park in Edinburgh Way. I can’t imagine the heartache of the parents and family of the little girl who has died, and my thoughts are with them”.

In May past year a bouncy castle at a children’s fair in the same park deflated with children inside. My deepest sympathies go out to her family.

Harlow Council officers visited the site and recommended a number of health and safety improvements, including better stewarding of the event.
