Giuliani forgets about 9/11 attacks at Trump rally
Although the Twitter jokes focus on Giuliani “forgetting” 9/11, it’s almost impossible that he actually forgot the terror attacks when he made that statement.

It appears former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is forgetting the worst terror attack on United States soil. Obama took office on January 20, 2009, leading many outlets to point out that the eight years prior included the 9/11 attacks. “They all started when Clinton and Obama got into office”, Giuliani said during a campaign stop for Donald Trump.
“The terrorists attacked on 9/11 because they knew Obama would be the next president”, Cassandra Nicholson wrote sarcastically.
Yesterday Rudy Giuliani was accused of selectively forgetting 9/11 during a speech introducing Republican vice presidential nominee, Mike Pence.
He added: “Remember: We didn’t start this war; they did”. Almost 3,000 people died in the 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Virginia. “We don’t want this war”.
But as Jeet Heer, a senior editor at the New Republic, observes, Giuliani didn’t forget about the attacks in 2001, he just doesn’t think they should count.
Giuliani also appeared to forget what state Pence is the governor of, the Daily News noted. No matter what he may say, 9/11 happened under the watch of himself and former President Bush.
Though Giuliani governed the nation’s largest city as a moderate Republican, who moved much further to the right when he welcomed Bush to NY for the 2004 Republican National Convention and as he mounted an ill-fated 2008 presidential bid.
According to CNN, Trump’s spokesman, Jason Miller, defended Rudy’s remarks, saying that he was referring to the time in between 9/11 and Obama’s inauguration.
