Attacking the ruling Congress government in the state, the Prime Minister said people of Assam suffered from a shortage of sufficient drinking water despite having a river like Brahmaputra. Yet, due to the Assam government, the benefit is not reaching the poor. “That is development, fast-development and all-round-development”, he said, adding that he will return the affection with record development in the state.
Explaining his vision for development of Assam, the Prime Minister said that the BJP wants to enhance the education facilities for children and provide employment opportunities to the States youths.
In an obvious dig at Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Mr Modi said Congress leaders were more concerned about “their own sons and daughters”.
“In Assam, you have to form a government with absolute majority and now with only three days left for second phase polls, there will be attempts to spread lies and rumours but it is your duty to go to every house and foil such designs”, he said.
The all-round development of Assam is the only agenda of the BJP. Sarma was earlier a minister in Tarun Gogoi government. He said, “We have electrified more than 900 villages of Assam, will complete the task within set deadline”.
During his short speech in support of his party candidates, Modi criticised the Congress government in the State for its alleged nepotism, hierarchy of power distribution and involvement in corrupt practices.
