Long live the queen: Danish actress Connie Nielsen has been cast as Hippolyta, ruler of the Amazons and mother of the titular heroine in Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman movie.

Nielsen is mostly known for her role of Lucilla in director Ridley Scott’s Gladiator alongside Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, but she’s had recent stints on The Following and The Good Wife. It also stars Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis.

Gal Gadot, of course, stars as Wonder Woman, a.k.a. Princess Diana, while Chris Pine plays the epitome of Man’s World, Steve Trevor. She also appeared in Nymphomanic Vol. 1.
