Glamour’s Women of the Year: Witherspoon, Jenner, Copeland
I was like, ‘I feel like Gloria Steinem told me to do Legally Blonde. A few apparently thought Jenner was THE woman of the year, as opposed to one of many. “That’s how Elle Woods is too!’ She starts out thinking she’s gonna follow a man, but in the end she’s like, ‘I don’t need you'”.

It’s just the latest in a series of honors for the 66-year old, who also took home the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY Awards in July. Germaine Greer, for example, who has long touted her transphobia couched in feminist rhetoric, said last week that “misogyny plays a really big part in all of this…” You are still alive.
She added: “I am just excited about the future for the first time in a long, long time”, she says, with the contagious confidence of a champion.
Many Twitter users – apparently under the impression that Jenner was the sole woman being honored – also sounded off.
Glamour Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive scorned the “venomous, violent” backlash to the magazine’s decision.
Other famous faces including in this year’s Women of the Year list are Reese Witherspoon, for her work sourcing and producing movies with strong female leads, and Victoria Beckham, for her successful fashion brand and philanthropic work. The Empire State Building will illuminate its world-famous tower lights in Glamour pink to commemorate Women of the Year Day and symbolize the millions of women around the world who continue to break barriers.
Jenner now seems happier than ever and respected by more who know her story. “We prefer to focus on the positive”, Jenner said through a spokesman ahead of the announcement.
Transgender actress Laverne Cox (“Orange Is the New Black”) was lauded among the magazine’s honorees in 2014.

Following much rumormongering in recent weeks – originating from, of all places, a source leaking the scoop to CBS medical morning show The Doctors – Glamour magazine confirmed Thursday morning that Caitlyn Jenner will receive their Woman of the Year Award.
