Trump’s O’Donnell insults are well documented, but he has also reportedly used rude vocabulary to describe other women.

After the debate, Trump’s Twitter feed began filling up with retweets of praises toward himself and disparaging comments toward mediator Kelly. “I’ve been challenged by so many people, and I don’t, frankly, have time for total political correctness”, he said in his answer. “I’ve been very nice to you, although I could probably maybe not be based on the way you have treated me”.

The debate featured 10 Republican presidential candidates, and was moderated by FOX News journalists Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace. Now he can say the same thing about his first presidential debate, even if he didn’t like the show very much.

Calling into Friday’s edition of Morning Joe, Trump discussed the back-and-forth with Kelly, which has now been upped to a “feud”, and said he was OK with the criticism, as long as everyone else gets the same treatment.

The debate turned into a slugfest with front-runner Donald Trump in particular feeling the heat. “And I don’t mind having a big handsome door in that wall so that people can come into this country legally”, he said.

The debate, hosted by Fox News, not only set a new record for a Republican primary debate, but had almost three times as many viewers as the last record holder. Look, I’m gonna love my daughters no matter what they do, because you know what?

Trump also said she “really bombed”, and he retweeted a dozen fans who criticized her hostility and called her a “bimbo”. “They are killers. They are phenomenal”, Trump said on ABC’s “This Week”.

Mr Trump, at his combative best, refused to rule out an independent White House bid and bristled at questions about his attitudes toward women, leaving his rivals struggling for attention during a feisty first Republican presidential debate.
