In an election involving all eligible hourly workers at the plant past year, workers voted 712-626 against UAW representation following heavy campaigning by anti-labor politicians and groups. Local UAW leaders representing members at those plants release voting results to members via social media or other methods. Once that inquiry has ended, the UAW’s worldwide executive board can decide what steps are appropriate, but can’t change aspects of he contract that apply to all members.

Negotiators for Ford Motor Co continued to meet with UAW representatives but had not begun discussions on the final economic aspects of a contract, said people familiar with the talks.

Ford was the third of the Detroit automakers to bargain with the UAW, with FCA and GM completing agreements earlier this fall.

The UAW’s agreement with General Motors is close to ratification this morning after workers at a Ft.

“For Ford to say “We can’t afford the GM contract” would be tough”, he said.

GM also committed to spend about $8 billion across 12 US facilities over the life of the contract, the union said.

Temporary Employees: The Tentative Agreement includes a lump sum payment of $2,000 for active, temporary employees who have worked at least 90 days prior to the effective date. If the council approves it, it will be taken to rank-and-file for ratification voting that likely would start later in the week.

Key to all three contracts is a path to get workers hired after 2007 to the same base wage scale as their more senior colleagues, eliminating a two-tier wage structure.

To note, GM paid an average of $9,000 to the average UAW member in profit sharing in 2015 alone, according to the Center for Automotive Research.

Combined, the workers turned down the agreement, with 731 votes against and 723 for it.

There are also annual lump sum performance and quality bonuses, and a $60,000 bonus for up to 4,000 eligible production employees who retire between February 1 and May 1, 2016.
