GM expands car-sharing to Boston, Chicago, Washington
General Motors is expanding its Maven car-sharing service to Boston and Washington, D.C., this summer, and is adding new options in Chicago where it began service in March.

In Chicago, The Maven City is now in operation and offers 30 GM vehicles (Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac models) for rent that customers can either pick up at specific sites around the city or have delivered.
Some residential buildings in Chicago, Washington and Boston will have Maven vehicles in the neighborhood for residents to use with an app.
The GM service already exists in Ann Arbor, Chicago and NY, where customers pay about $6 for a vehicle.
The announcement comes on the heels of another milestone for the car-sharing service: Customers have now driven more than one million miles in Maven automobiles.
In addition to Maven City, Maven+ residential on-demand auto sharing is available to residents of the Aqua luxury high-rise apartment community in the city’s Lakeshore East neighborhood. Express Drive is a short-term rental program, offering weekly rates on Chevrolet Equinox crossovers. In Chicago, for example, Maven includes $99/week Chevy Equinox rentals, which allows Chicagoans who don’t own a vehicle to drive for GM partner Lyft.
Maven City and Maven Plus both will be available to qualifying D.C. residents by the end of June, GM stated.
Maven is more than vehicle sharing, starting at $8 per hour – including insurance and fuel.
Maven, like Zipcar, is a car-sharing service that targets people who need access to a vehicle for short, well-defined periods. “As we continue to expand into key cities, more customers will see how Maven can provide next-gen freedom by seamlessly connecting them with people and places that matter”.

Once they finish with a auto, users are requested to use the provided gas card to fill up to “at least a quarter of tank capacity”, so that they do not make an inconvenience to the next user and do not get an additional charge.
