Rane informed the House that the Indoor Stadium at Sanquelim has been closed down and requires urgent attention.

Independent legislator Vijai Sardesai claimed that several questions tabled by the Opposition members were converted from starred to unstarred category and were not taken up for discussion. “There are some grey areas, due to which the questions are transferred from one department to another”. “This question was of paramount importance as the government had even gone to the extent of changing the identity of the coconut tree from tree to grass”, he noted, stating that the Speaker is unable to handle the proceedings of the House, with the Chief Minister and the former speaker directing him from their places from time to time. Nuvem MLA Francisco “Mickky” Xavier Pacheco asked the Speaker to supply hard copies of answers to the MLAs, or else close the ongoing session of the assembly.

Sardesai also quipped that the government should issue a notification as regards which issue should be discussed in the House and which issues should not be. You (Congress) introduced casinos and now you only are asking questions.

Later the MLAs told reporters that, “two important questions on beach cleanliness and housing board scams were listed during the Question Hour, which would have exposed the state government”. The legislature has 40 members – 21 BJP, three MGP and two Independents sit on the ruling benches, while 14 sit on the opposition side.
