Goat drowns trying to escape Alaska crowds taking its photo
The white goat was spotted on Seward Harbor Saturday evening after apparently wandering down to the seaside town from the hillside.

The animal was harassed as it made its way down 4th Avenue and animal control officers tried to safely capture the mountain goat, according to Seward City News.
At 6:30 pm on Saturday, Seward Troopers received a report of “individuals harassing a mountain goat on the south end of the Seward Harbor breakwater dike”, the trooper dispatch divulged on Sunday. The goat drowned when it couldn’t get back on shore.
Troopers say after their investigation, the goat was not able to make it back to the rocks due to the amount of people standing there.
Onlooker Kerri O’Neill says she called Alaska SeaLife Center for help.
About a half hour later, they found out the goat had jumped into the ocean.
The goat’s remains were recovered by a good Samaritan from a boat and given to a charity, according to AST.
The goat first entered the water at Resurrection Bay, near downtown Seward. “Unable to speak foreign language, and without jurisdiction over local wildlife, they weren’t as successful as local authorities COULD have been”. “P$3 eople not giving the animal space and getting close to take photos resulted in a wild animal dying for no cause”.

AST urges people to give wildlife enough space to leave a crowded area.
