Gold cards and red hats: A Trumpian approach to fundraising

The Donald Trump Campaign has possibly collected $100 million from small-dollar donations, according to Politico. According to a recent Marist poll for NBC News/The Wall Street Journal, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton leads with Hispanics in the state by a margin of 35 percent.

Republican candidate Donald Trump, who did little to establish a fundraising army for his presidential primary campaign, has raked in an unprecedented amount of donations for a Republican candidate in the last three months, leading some to liken his efforts and success to that of Sen. Comparatively, McCain and Romney raised less than $64 million from small donors during the entirety of their 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns, respectively.

He believes Trump’s talk on improving the job market and his status as a Washington outsider could appeal to Hispanic voters, and his owning several casinos could be helping him in Nevada.

A “poll decoder” from Bloomberg Politics showed on Tuesday that, on average, Clinton leads Trump with Hispanics by 38 points. As the numbers roll in, many Republicans are surprised by the real estate mogul’s fundraising success among small donors, noting that Democrats typically rake in a high number of small to moderate donations, while Republicans rely on fewer donors, but larger sums of money.

Bad news for Democrats who aren’t sure what to make of it.

“Latino voters may not have come home yet”.

“You know, we (Republicans) have been talking about issues like this for quite sometime in the House, and it has just been a matter of us not being able to move it forward”, she said. “There is a base there, just as there is for any group”, Sosa said.
