The wins for “Mozart”, along with those for “Mr. Robot” (for both best drama series and for Christian Slater for best supporting actor), were in line with the Globes’ history of honoring first-year shows. An HD video-on-demand version has been available on several digital platforms since December 22.

Brie Larson won the Globe for Best Actress in a Drama for her portrayal of a young mother held captive with her child in Room, besting Carol co-stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.

But a win is a win, and although this awards season is far from predetermined, neither “The Martian” nor “The Revenant” were considered real frontrunners, especially against nominees like “Spotlight”, “Carol”, “Mad Max: Fury Road”, and “The Big Short”.

“I’ve made a lot of movies that people just didn’t go to see, so to make a movie that people just enjoyed this much … it really came down to (director) Ridley Scott”, Damon said.

Leonardo DiCaprio urged a worldwide audience to acknowledge and learn from Indigenous peoples as he accepted a Golden Globe for his work on The Revenant.

The 73rd Golden Globes proved to be the time and place for Amazon to overtake Netflix for winning two awards.

The biggest tossup is in the Best Director category – only 52% of Globes winners won an Oscar for directing!

The Golden Globes are attributed by some 90 journalists from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

“Wolf Hall” received the award for best TV movie or limited-series, leaving “American Crime”, “American Horror Story: Hotel“, “Fargo” and “Flesh and Bone” behind. The thing about Mozart in the Jungle is that it is the most conservative series in the comedy category. “While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief”.
