Golden State Warriors: 5 Takeaways From 1st Round Series

The Warriors finished 13-for-31 (41.9 percent) from beyond the arc, outscoring the Rockets 39-18 from long range despite taking two fewer attempts. They are bought into this mantra, all right. Now they face many offseason questions, the biggest being who will coach this team and whether Dwight Howard will opt out of the a year ago of his contract and become a free agent. It has been that way all season.

Curry suffered an ankle injury in Game 1 of the Warriors-Rockets series followed by a right knee injury in Game 4.

The Warriors will await either the Los Angeles Clippers or Portland Trail Blazers in the second round.

The injuries didn’t stop him from joining in the celebration after the Warriors closed out the Rockets, with Curry going as far as lifting up Warriors backup point guard Ian Clark. “Of course he helps us in so many ways, but when we play like this I think it’s hard to beat us”. Dub Nation celebrates historic season “I felt it from before the tipoff, we had great focus in the locker room, we did not want to make a trip halfway across the country, so it was a whole team effort tonight”, Thompson said.

Whenever Golden State’s coaching and training staff determine that Curry is at 100 percent, he will return. Steve Kerr has repeatedly turned to his bench to find significant contributors who had played minor roles (or no role) in the prior games. “Steph was having a great time”. He even guaranteed a win, publicly promising a road victory over the Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors. After Houston steadied the ship a bit, the Warriors had a 19-14 lead about halfway through the quarter. Harden got his numbers, scoring 35 points, but no other player scored more than 11 points. Green was his usual high-intensity self, but turned it down just enough to avoid any turnovers to go with his 8 assists. [Aside: I’ll be wearing my Benoit Benjamin Clippers jersey Friday night, rooting for the Paper Clips.] Now, the bad news – Curry is only being re-evaluated on Monday May 9th, it’s not like he’s automatically back.

Klay Thompson was determined to do more. The biggest break I got was inheriting this team.

“I always have an optimistic view, no matter what it is”, Curry said Friday.

In Curry’s absence, you could see it happening – Green was the energy, the life force, the voice, the muscle and he just happened to be the best player on the floor, too.

He was given a two-week timetable to return after an MRI revealed a Grade 1 sprain.

When Harden hit a game-winning jumper in Game 3, no one on Houston’s bench celebrated.

“This is usually how he is”, Kerr said with a laugh.

No, beating the Houston Rockets, a team that struggles to do much of anything beyond James Harden isn’t a huge feat or a sign that they’re definitely going to win the National Basketball Association championship or even the second round.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets 114-81 – a spread of 33 points.

“I’m guaranteeing it”, Terry said Tuesday.

According to Draymond Green, the defending champs got a good chuckle out of it.

Golden State moved and shared the ball, following up its 38 assists from Sunday’s win with 30 more.

The Clippers fought bravely to stay in touch heading into the fourth quarter at the Staples Center.

Curry said he doesn’t feel compelled to rush back because he’s confident his teammates can get the job done without him until he’s ready. “Literally every single guy on our roster contributed during this series”, he said.
