Golden State Warriors and Durant?

Durant and the Thunder pushed Golden State to Game 7 in the Western Conference Finals before falling, and although the Warriors lost to the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, they could represent Durant’s best chance to win an elusive NBA title.

The Warriors enjoyed the greatest regular season in National Basketball Association history with a record of 73-9 and came within one win of their second consecutive championship without Durant.

At this point in the offseason, it’s still tough to tell which team has the edge when it comes to signing Durant, though the former league MVP made his thoughts known when it comes to that particular subject during the recent KD9 shoe release event in Austin, Texas.

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News dropped an article on Tuesday with sourced information regarding Kevin Durant’s free agency. Warriors owner Joe Lacob envisions his next move for the team to make them “more aggressive” and a hungry Durant just might fit the bill. When the Warriors were on their way to setting an National Basketball Association record with 73 regular season wins and were the favorites to repeat at National Basketball Association champs, the theory was that Durant wouldn’t be wise to sign with the Warriors.

This isn’t the first that we have heard of Durant potentially joining the Warriors, but now with the season over, the rumors are going to start heating up more than ever.

“I know how important this time is”, Durant said. Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli, both restricted free agents, played poorly in the final three games.

Writing for The Vertical this February, Bobby Marks detailed the extensive process that Golden State would have to undergo in order to land Durant on an appropriate contract. After the disappointment of losing to Golden State in the Western Conference Finals, he is anxious to get back to the Olympics and help bring back another gold medal. Nonetheless, Durant will take a good hard look at all of his options this summer.
