Golden State Warriors RUMORS: Harrison Barnes Out A Week, Maybe More?

Barnes left the game in the third quarter of the Warriors’ 135-116 win at Phoenix on Friday after landing on the ankle while playing defense.

Barnes underwent an MRI exam and isn’t scheduled to be re-evaluated for a week and has no timetable on his return, the team said Sunday. Now comes the tricky part for Luke Walton and Steve Kerr, figuring out what direction to go while Barnes rests that sprained ankle.

The Golden State Warriors are off to the best start in National Basketball Association history and although they are an extremely talented team they have needed some luck to get to their 18-0 mark. How will Harrison Barnes’ injury impact the team?

The Warriors have already ruled Barnes out for the next three games as they are set to embark on a seven game road trip beginning with Monday night’s game against the Utah Jazz.

In their championship-winning season last season, Barnes played and started in all 82 regular season games and also did the same in 21 playoff games. “It’s all speculation. It could be a few weeks. We haven’t gotten the results back yet”, interim head coach Luke Walton told reporters before Saturday’s game.

Curry, the league’s reigning Most Valuable Player and its leading scorer this season, hit three 3-pointers in the opening period while scoring more than half of Golden State’s 30 points.

Brandon Rush replaced Barnes in the starting lineup for Saturday’s victory over the Sacramento Kings and scored 16 points in just 19 minutes.
