Returning from a sprained MCL in his right knee, Curry admitted that he wasn’t at 100 percent entering the series with the Thunder, and it looked that way in the Warriors’ Game 1 loss and for all but a few plays in the first half of Game 2.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Once Stephen Curry finally gathered himself and got up following a scary first-quarter dive into the stands, fans inside Oracle Arena could take a breath, sit back and watch the MVP put on a spectacular shooting show.
In the 108-102 loss on Monday, the Warriors got only 16 points and 12 rebounds from their reserves.
The Thunder trailed just 64-57 midway through the third quarter before Curry scored 15 straight Warriors points during a two-minute span, including three 3-pointers.
Iguodala scored 14 points, while Draymond Green posted another balanced line: 10 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, two blocked shots and a steal. The entire team had a tough shooting night, making just 40 percent of their shots in the game. Durant keeping his cool, Westbrook maintaining a balance between his usual fire and not letting him steer of the path towards a huge upset. The Warriors were plus-19 in the second half in Game 2.
2010: In a series tied 2-2, the defending champion Lakers quickly took care of the Thunder in Game 5.
Durant kept the Thunder within striking distance with 23 first-half points.
Oklahoma City’s length is part of what makes it so good, with centers Steven Adams and Enes Kanter. Golden State has not lost back-to-back games all season long.
Despite a scoreless second quarter, Curry remained the Warriors’ leading scorer at the time with 11 points.
“The bench was great”, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. Having played 46 minutes in the Game 1 win, Thunder SF Kevin Durant increased his postseason average to 40.2, tops among all guys still playing. In the third quarter, the Warriors finally managed to get Curry the extra step or two of separation he had lacked in Game 1. When they do this, their shot selection winds up being so much better.
