The October. 17 fight will be the fifth time since 2013 that Golovkin has fought under the Madison Square Garden Company, which also owns the Forum in Inglewood.

WBA super-middleweight champion Andre Ward reveals that he would be happy to secure a fight with world middleweight title holder Gennady Golovkin.

Back in May, Newsday’s Greg Logan called Golovkin “easily the most expert and entertaining boxer-puncher in the sport”. The IBF champion also is on a roll with nine straight victories. He won the IBF title in June.

“It’s a true middleweight championship, and that’s what Gennady has always wanted”. The undefeated Kazakh told ESPN’s SportsNation that a fight with “Pretty Boy” will show who the best fighter in the world really is. And then once he unifies the division, he can go somewhere else. Golovkin has been convinced the Canelo-Cotto fight is evenly stacked, but predicted that Canelo will be the victor. No wonder, being that he has an angel face and devil fists, and looks to remove his foes’ head from shoulders from second one in all of his fights.

Ward’s camp noted that Golovkin had offered to fight Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.at the super-middleweight limit of 168 pounds., but wouldn’t do so against Ward.

HBO has enthusiastically backed Golovkin’s stateside rise over the past three years, and his move onto pay-per-view puts him in the top tier of fighters. He fought twice in the theater before making his big-arena debut last July with a spectacular knockout of Daniel Geale.
