France worldwide Bafetimbi Gomis has returned to his homeland, moving on a year-long loan from Swansea City to Marseille.

The France worldwide was expected to become a focal point in the Welsh club’s attack when striker Wilfried Bony left to join Manchester City in January, 2015 but his form remained patchy.

Kyle Bartley and Matt Grimes have both joined Leeds while Ryan Hedges and Liam Shephard will spend the forthcoming campaign at Yeovil.

Gomis, who has two years left on his contract at Swansea, has scored three goals in 12 appearances for France but was not included in their squad for the Euro 2016 finals.

The Frenchman was signed on a free transfer from Olympique Lyonnais in 2014 as a backup to Wilfried Bony and became then his replacement. However, he scored twice more in the Premier League and once in the League Cup before the end of the season.

Gomis will be hoping to carry this form into his stay at Marseille.
