Goodell does not agree with protest
A new YouGov poll shows that most Americans disapprove of Kaepernick’s protest, but there exists a significant racial divide on the issue.

President Barack Obama (left) weighs in on Colin Kaepernick’s (right) anthem protest. San Francisco head coach Chip Kelly stated that quarterback Blaine Gabbert will start the opener, with Kaepernick serving as the backup.
“I think there are a lot of players that feel the same way, ” Kaepernick said Wednesday.
“I think it’s a awful thing, and you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him”, the GOP presidential nominee said. But I think that comes along with people’s fear of this protest, as well as Islamophobia in this country.
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color”, he said afterward.
A little more than a week since Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest sparked a nationwide controversy, sales of his No. 7 jersey have soared into the top spot in the NFL’s online shop. His teammate Eric Reid and Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane are the only other National Football League players to sit out the anthem. Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin said Wednesday that he is considering joining the protest as well but wants “to get all my ducks in a row before I do so”. I think he cares about some real, legitimate issues that have to be talked about. “We will also continue to allow players to participate in the pre-match ceremony in a manner consistent with their personal beliefs, reflecting our respect for the rights earned and defended by those fighting for our nation”.

If the officers, who make up a third of the security at Levi’s Stadium, where the 49ers play, decide not to provide security at the stadium, the 49ers will have to hire more security personnel before their season opener on Monday night. I imagine teams will be pushing the 15th anniversary of 9/11 pretty hard on Sunday. And that’s really the problem. “I want to make sure the people I’m talking to are comfortable with that before I address something like that”.
