Google is improving its browser for Android, and the latest Chrome 54 Beta brings many useful features that will make many mobile users ditch Firefox, Opera or other browsers.

Google Chrome beta for Android allows now users to play YouTube videos in the background.
According to a Techtimes report, two of the most prominent new features introduced by Google in Chrome Beta for Android version 54 are — background video playback; and a redesigned new tab page. The only annoying thing is that when switching back to Chrome, users will need to tap the play button, to start playing music again. The biggest allows video to continue playing in the background, including when you exit to the homescreen, switch tabs, and when the screen is off.
Using Google Chrome Beta for Android, your music or video will pause when you switch to a new application still. Audio from the video will continuously be heard while using other apps. This means that when you are sending WhatsApp you will continue to listen to the YouTube audio field which means that the video feed would also be on in the background.
As Android Police points out, video playback even works on YouTube right now, which is super helpful.
Apart from this, Chrome for Android is also adding support for video orientation, which will now enable direct entry to full screen mode for videos when the device gets rotated. The latest version boasts the inclusion of a number of notable new features, along with the availability of Broadcast API and Custom Elements V1 for developers.
Instead of your bookmarks and recent tabs shortcut when you open up a new tab you will see the Google logo, search bar and frequently viewed pages.
Before installing Chrome Beta for Android, bear in mind that this app is Google’s testing dummy for new features and as such, it can be a little rough around the edges. Therefore, it can be a paid feature as well once the stable version is rolled out.
