One might hope that would mean Android N would then allow Android TV to support HDR, and, indeed, it does.

The new Mi Box features support for 4K video decoding at 60 frames per second and it supports HDR video and HDMI 2.0a. Xiaomi might be in California this week to announce a new Android TV box. The new TVs are expected to become available this summer. Xiaomi is also no stranger to TV-like products. Chromecast is an low-priced, mobile-driven option that lets users cast content from their mobile devices directly onto a TV screen, provided that a Chromecast dongle is plugged into the TV; Google Cast works the same, but comes built into TVs, so that you don’t need the dongle. The device will compete in an increasingly crowded market where Google’s Chromecast and Amazon’s Fire TV lead the market. But it’s not just Google that’s involved.

“This is a significant milestone for Xiaomi and I am really excited to be working closely with Google to bring such a great product to our fans in the US”.

To date Google says it has sold 25 million Chromecast devices. As well as those announcements, NVIDIA has also been making a number of announcements today and have confirmed a number of new incoming games including the likes of Resident Evil 5 (which arrives tomorrow) as a SHIELD-exclusive.
