Google employee Vanessa Marcotte found dead after going jogging in woods

A New York City woman visiting family in Princeton, Massachusetts, was found dead after going jogging, police said.
The body of 27 year-old Vanessa Marcotte of New York City was found in the woods in Princeton, Mass. on Sunday, August 7, 2016. It was not clear, however, whether it was a random act, said Joseph D. Early Jr., Massachusetts District Attorney, during a Monday press conference. “We would ask people to pay attention to their surroundings”. A source told NewsCenter 5 that she was found naked and burned near Brooks Station Road. Authorities are trying to determine if she was sexually assaulted.
Marcotte’s previous employer, WordStream, and her alma mater, Boston University, also expressed their sadness and sympathy for Marcotte and her family.
A Google spokesperson confirmed Marcotte’s employment in an emailed statement to The Washington Post.
Following her death, a friend described Marcotte as “always smiling – one of the nicest people you’d ever meet”.
Early said Monday that there is “nothing at this point” to connect Marcotte’s death to Vetrano’s, the Boston Globe reported.
According to Massachusetts State Police, 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte was last seen 1 p.m. Sunday when she went for a run.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Marcotte had been at Google since January 2015 and was working as part of the company’s health care division.
Investigators are focusing on the hours just after Marcotte left for her jog Sunday afternoon along the tree-lined street and never returned.
A Google employee was found dead after going for a run in woods near her mother’s home in MA.
At Vetrano’s funeral, her mother, Cathy, said, “My daughter is a force to be reckoned with”, the Daily News reported. “She was a wonderful young woman and very ambitious and had a brilliant career cut short”. There is no indication the deaths are connected.

No arrests have been made in the case, which comes a week after Queens, New York jogger Karina Vetrano, 30, was discovered in the marsh near her home in the Howard Beach section of the borough.
