Google Gives Hangouts A Boost

Hangouts 4.0 is now rolling out in stages, and users can expect to receive the update in the near future if they haven’t already.

Google describes Hangouts 4.0 for Android as having “a fresh new look, improved speed, and features that make it even easier to reach people the way you want to reach them”. Some folks have complained that Google has shunned Hangouts for its Messenger app lately, but today it’s time for Hangouts to get some time in the spotlight.

The latest version of Hangouts also brings Google’s Material Design UI. Google says items now respond to your touch “in more intuitive ways” and transitions between tasks “are more fluid”.

Drop the pitchforks, Android users, because Google has finally released Hangouts 4.0 for your favorite Nexus, Galaxy, or other Android device. A whole host of other improvements are bundled in that include but aren’t limited to outgoing caller ID, MMS messages through Google Voice, Hangouts for Android Wear and custom status messages.
