Chirp is expected to be a direct competitor to Amazon’s Echo, which is a portable speaker that uses voice assistant technology named Alexa to carry out tasks such as answering questions, providing weather and traffic reports, controlling lights, reading audio books, and even ordering pizza. Google just announced an Amazon Echo clone.

Google also explained they’ve seen a 25% improvement in voice searching thanks to a change in the way they train their voice algorithms. At any rate, it will be a key component of Google’s assistant ecosystem and evidence suggests there’s more to come.
The small device will have a white top and a customized bottom, with consumers choosing their own color to blend it in with their home. Google CEO Sundar Pichai echoed that sentiment during his keynote: “We think of Google Assistant as an ambient experience that extends across devices”.
Allo also allows for “incognito” chats that are encrypted end-to-end and users can have messages self-destruct after specified amounts of time.
