Google I/O conferences gets dates and a new location for 2016

Google I/O is an annual conference held by Google for software developers.

In a Google+ post, Pichai also confirmed that I/O would not take place in the San Francisco’s Moscone Center, as it did previously, but will instead be held at the larger Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. This is one of the earliest Google I/O announcements to date and is notably in Mountain View versus the usual Moscone venue in San Francisco. And, it being late spring in California, we should be in for splendid weather in an outdoor setting. We’re not sure if this year’s tickets will be priced the same, but as Pichai said, more details will be shared.

The next major mobile operating system, we hope, brings some significant updates and continues the improvements we saw in Android Marshmallow.

Basically instead of it being a first-come-first-serve sign-up process, Google will instead draw a name from a hat (not literally) at random, and that person will then be given a chance to purchase a ticket to attend.

Shoreline is a widely known concert venue that sits 22,500. This would be the flawless space to show off Google’s self-driving cars and/or robots. Stay tuned to #io16 and +GoogleDevelopers in the coming weeks for more details.

Google I/O 2016 dates announced: May 18-20, in Mountain View
