Google introduces 24 ‘places of interest’ in it’s map update

Google has indeed taken a small step forward towards innovating the user experience, and is trying to inculcate the habit of adding more location pins to the maps.

Even though it’s still technically impossible to say that to your Android phone when you want it to navigate you home, but Google now allows you to set your home icon to a pirate ship if you want. The name can be used instead of the place’s actual name when searching in Maps.

With the new Google Maps for Android, you can customize how your work and home appear on the map using stickers.

The neat-looking doodles has 24 stickers to choose from ranging from castles and barns to igloos and treehouses. Once the places are labeled and saved in the “places” section within Maps, you can pick and choose from the different marker stickers and add it to that location. There are still some good and colorful options for your workplace label, such as a skyscraper, a crane, a windmill, and more.

As you may know, you can label your Home and Work places on Google Maps for easy access to them. To do that, open the app and swipe right from the edge.

Moreover, it looks like the company is making the tagging feature possible so that you could make the locations that you visit and save addresses for home and work locations. After that, just peruse through the available icons.
