Google is bringing its Cardboard Expeditions Pioneer Program to 15 new cities
A conference attendee looks through “Cardboard”, a viewer that enables the user to view content from a smart phone in 3D, during the Google I/O developers conference in San Francisco, California May 28, 2015. The search engine giant doesn’t want to stop there, however, as the company now plans to bring its program to 12 cities in the United States, as well as three new countries in the fold to further the company’s push in virtual reality education.

The sources linked with the matter said that the students through this Google Expedition, which will be available for Toronto students to try in January would be soon be able to walk along the Great Wall of China or snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef from their classrooms with the Google Expeditions virtual reality field trip experience.
In the U.S., the expansion hits 15 new cities, which include Alexandria, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City and Washington DC.
“We’ve been thrilled to see teachers use Expeditions to bring abstract concepts to life and provide students with a deeper understanding of the world beyond the classroom, infusing learning with excitement and fun”, Holland said in a statement. The Expeditions kit of course also offers teachers ways to organize field trips without having to leave the school, making the Program an incredibly intelligent and useful one. A few kits include Mattel’s new View-Master VR headset, others include Google Cardboard.
Google’s work with virtual reality over the last couple of years has brought interesting and unique experiences to thousands of people.
